Variables for R/V Knorr experiment : February/March 1997 date = year-month-day hour = decimal hour lat = latitude North ( - = South ) lon = longitude East ( - = West ) ws = wind speed at 10 meters ssT = sea near-surface temperature airT = air temperature qa = specific humidity CD10N*1000 = drag coefficient * 1000.0 ( derived from dissipation method ) shf1 = sensible heat flux ( from dissipation method ) shf2 = sensible heat flux ( from cross correlation method ) shf3 = sensible heat flux ( from Isemer and Hasse '87 method ) shf4 = sensible heat flux ( from Large and Pond '82 method ) shf5 = sensible heat flux ( from DeCosmo et al. '96 method ) Measurements by IfM Kiel, air temp., spec.hum. and SST from the ship's IMET. Turbulence measurements were performed using a 'Metek USA 1' sonic anemometer. The date gives the beginning of time series of a length of approximately 17 minutes used to derive heat fluxes ( dissipation and cross correlation method ) and drag coefficients ( dissipation method). Bulk estimates are based on data from the ship's IMET. References : BUMKE, K., U. KARGER and K. UHLIG: Measurements of turbulent fluxes of momentum and sensible heat over the Labrador Sea. J. Phys.
