Current GFDI Graduate Students

Jun Dong
dong@ocean.fsu.edu

Major: Ph.D. GFD.
Advisor: Dr. Louis St. Laurant
Research Interests:
My current research focuses on ocean front dynamics in Southern Ocean, and microstructure study in the ocean. It includes data analysis, such as SeaSoar data, CTD and ADCP data, and numerical modeling.

Jeremiah Brown
jbrown@gfdi.fsu.edu

Major: Ph.D. GFD.
Advisor: Dr. Carol Anne Clayson
Research Interests:
My dissertation focuses on analysis of the energy exchange across the air-sea interface using wavelet-based techniques to separate heat fluxes into different scales. The contention is that fluxes are rich in frequency content and thus energy is exchanged for the entire frequency spectrum.

Giuseppe Colantuono
giuseppe@ocean.fsu.edu

Major: Ph.D. GFD.
Advisor: Dr. William Dewar
Research Interests:
I am working analytically on the perturbation, due to stratification, of the barotropic frequency of planetary/topographic modes in a closed basin.

Jeremy Sauer
jsauer@gfdi.fsu.edu

Major: Ph.D. GFD.
Advisor: Dr. Cunningham
Research Interests:
My research focuses on the coupled interactions of combustion/heat transfer processes and atmospheric conditions which influence wildland fire dynamics. Specific topics include drag and convective heat exchange in mixed fuel beds, turbulent transport heterogeneous canopy structures, radiative heat transfer algorithms, massively parallel computation, and Eulerian hydrodynamics models.

Jesse Canfield
jessec@gfdi.fsu.edu

Major: Ph.D. GFD.
Advisor: Dr. Cunningham
Research Interests:
I am interested in wildfire dynamics. I use HIGRAD/FIRETEC, which is a three dimensional, numerical, atmospheric hydrodynamics model, coupled with a wildfire physics model. Some of my recent research has been to investigate the interaction of the Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) with wildland fires.

Aaron Paget
paget@gfdi.fsu.edu

Major: Ph.D. GFD.
Advisor: Dr. Clayson
